The thermos-carafe seals in heat during the brewing process and afterward to lock in flavor. This eliminates the need for a warming plate, which can turn coffee bitter. For making wake-up coffee, the machine's programmable clock-timer can be set up to 24 hours in advance. There's also an automatic interrupter that halts coffee flow for 20 seconds during the brewing cycle if the carafe is removed for a quick pour. The filter holder swings out for easy filling, and there's a filter for removing the taste and odor of chlorine as well as minerals from tap water. For best results, remove the carafe from the base when the brewing process is complete, sealing off the carafe and insuring hot coffee.
